Outstanding Paper Animal Sculptures by Estudio Guardabosques

Estudio Guardabosques (guardabosques translates from Spanish to ‘rangers’) is a design and illustration studio in Buenos Aires, Argentina comprised of Carolina Silvero and Juan Nicolás Elizalde.

In addition to works produced for publications and advertising, the studio has created some extraordinary paper sculptures that reflect their love of doing “things that involve Nature and her care.” That philosophy is particularly evident in comments like this one regarding their paper birds:

The paper birds [were] born with the idea of having those birds in our home, without being caged. Aesthetics aside, we want to generate a conscience and curiosity about nature. We like to be able to have them present as design objects and go see the real ones in their natural habitats, in freedom.

If this sounds like something you’d like present in your own home, it appears that the kits containing the instructions and materials are only available for sale in stores in Argentina but the studio’s website indicates that they are working on international retail options.

In the meantime, we’ll all have to settle for the gorgeous photography on their website (some of which is highlighted below)…or we’ll just have to book a flight to Buenos Aires.
